The best advice I can give to new Mines' students is:
1) Have an outlet. You need something to do besides math and science. Maybe it's video games, or varsity, club or intramural sports, or band, or choir, or some other club or . . .
2) Park your pride, and your embarassment. It's ok to be proud of the fact you've been admitted and are coming to CSM. But don't think you can get through CSM by yourself. You need study groups. Don't be too proud, or too ashamed, to visit faculty and TA office hours. We're here to help. If you already knew it all, you wouldn't be here. One-on-one interactions are much different than classroom questions and answers. If you come to office hours, or make another appointment to see us, we'll help you out. But you need to come in first.

Tutoring by Individual Appointment

Mines' students may request to meet with SDAS Tutors privately. This is a great tool to prep before an exam, work with a group, or fine-tune a particular concept. Tutors will meet students at various locations on campus, throughout the business day. To request a private tutoring appointment, please email us at mines.tutoring@gmail.com.
In your email request make sure to list: (1) the particular subject of attention, (2) desired date and time to meet, (3) and your contact information including email and/or phone number. One of our tutors will respond within 24 hours.
